Creatively Learning “Africa to America” at the 2020 NAME Conference

Dr. Dade encourages attendees to include their family members and/or quaranteaming partners to participate in the virtual “Africa to America Workshop”, a part of this year’s National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) virtual conference.

Prepare to experience a wonderful opportunity to do an antiracist education class that will include storytelling, movement, drama, music & visuals.

This participatory workshop begins with storytelling highlights of African traditions and culture, and using the capabilities of the arts to move swiftly through dramatization, the workshop moves into the forced migration and enslavement of African people, and on into modern-day struggles for freedom and justice.

Throughout much of the workshop, open discussion and questions are encouraged using Chat communication. The closing family-styled discussion brings us front & center to racist issues still plaguing those of African American enslaved descent, and beyond.

The workshop will end with the importance to vote in honor of those who sacrificed everything and whose shoulders we now stand upon.

You can still join Dr. Dade’s workshop, and participate in the entire amazing NAME Conference.
